The Director of Leasing and Surplus is responsible for the leasing of all surplus properties, lease renewal negotiations, and sale-leaseback transactions. This individual will also handle all lease modification negotiations and ensure they are properly documented through the amendment process. They will partner closely with our landlords and brokers, as well as our Lease Administration, Real Estate, Legal, and Finance teams.
The Director will be responsible for defining, designing, and implementing the company’s enterprise development management system. This position will work in conjunction with other teams on system enhancements, to improve the performance and reliability of the services delivered to internal partners.
Negotiation of surplus tenant opportunities on optimized or surplus space
Negotiation and timely execution of amendments required for lease extensions, consents, downsize/remodels, or non-renewals on relocation/closing properties
Management of Burlington Shopping Centers - maximizing lease opportunities and budgets for operating expenses
Negotiate lease renewals with Landlords and obtain approvals required from Finance and Real Estate
Partnering with Real Estate, Market Planning, and Finance to maintain 5 year plan in Lucernex and portfolio guidance relative to relocations, remodels, closures, and renewals.
Candidates must have 10 years of Retail Real Estate leasing experience on the landlord or tenant side. Bachelor’s Degree preferred. ICSC – CCIM a plus. NRTA designation a plus. Approximate travel requirement of 1-2 separate 2 night / 3 day trips per month.
