Overview

Come join our growing team here at Burlington Stores as an Energy Services Analyst ! Under the direction of the Energy Manager/Senior Energy Manager, the Energy Services Analyst-Utilities will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and administrative management of the utility accounts for Burlington, company-wide. The Energy Services Analyst- Utilities will assist in the management of utility bill payment and auditing in support of the company’s $90+ million utility budget. In addition they will coordinate rebates and incentives, and are responsible for reporting planned and unplanned utility outages nation-wide.

Responsibilities:

Energy Utility Administration

  • Serve as point of contact for all utility account set ups, closing and on-going utility service or transfer issues. Coordinate with Real Estate, Construction, Facilities, and Lease Administration on all ongoing utility issues.

  • Provide assistance when needed to construction project managers to obtain new meter set ups.

  • Communicate with the Lease Administration when services will be billed directly to them vs Burlington taking possession of the billing, typically via a submeter.

  • Minimize utility expense by ensuring that correct meter numbers are supplied to the Energy department, accounts are established as requested and billing dates for newly established/terminated accounts are accurate.

  • Perform regular utility bill audits- evaluate consolidations, communicate errors and manage fund recovery.

  • Assist in the generation of utility bond applications, requirements, reduction applications, and coordinate with internal finance partners. Maintain security deposit balances by location to minimize the company’s risk exposure of uncollectable balances. Continually evaluate reduction in bonds and security deposits.

  • Manage third-party workflow process by auditing account expectations and ensuring the timely processing of bills received.

  • Supply the Lease Administration department with Tenant Bill-back invoice information monthly. Provide miscellaneous support as requested to aid in bill comparisons across store size and regional location.

  • Assist in communication and investigations for all power outages- planned and unplanned events. Coordinate with utilities and Burlington facilities to minimize impacts of power outages.

Energy Data Analytics & Support

  • Provide administrative and analytical support to the team for all deregulated energy activities.

  • Administer the Engie Insights data platform, including energy use reporting, utility invoice auditing and reconciliation, benchmarking, and data management.

  • Review bi-weekly utility payment consolidations: highlight & investigate high percent increase or decrease in kWh year over year

  • Review and validate landlord billed utilities & collect usage data for integration into Engie platform.

  • Provide support to the stores and finance regarding the use of full lighting override usage. Work with the high users to determine if there are lighting issues and report to the Senior Energy Analyst for proper protocol in fixing the lighting issues.

  • Generate data sets from Service Channel, EMS platforms, and other data management tools to support the Energy team.

  • Perform before and after analysis of kW & kWh for projects undergoing major projects: remodels, downsizes, etc.

Utility Rebate Program Support

  • Rebate coordinating, data –gathering, planning, analysis, specification, plan scanning and filing

  • Assist in the coordination and data sharing between rebate vendor and various utility companies.

  • Track and report ongoing rebate incentives and assist in financial reporting.

Energy Management System Tracking

  • Responsible to track and follow up with Construction and EMS vendors to ensure all new stores, remodels and relocations are contracted with one of our EMS vendors.

  • Assist in the coordination and data sharing between rebate vendor and various utility companies.

  • Track and report ongoing rebate incentives and assist in financial reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent from a college or university; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum of 2 years of increasing responsibility in the management and improvement of energy processes.

  • Knowledge of utility billing components and processes, utility rates and structures

  • Basic knowledge of mechanical, electric & plumbing systems that impact our utility bills

  • Ability to manage finances to a plan and forecast impact of potential cost drivers

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proven ability to independently manage multiple projects to timely completion

  • Ability to manage 3 rd party relationships including conflict resolution and bill auditing

  • Basic analytical skills, including proficiency in Excel
