As Manager, Store Initiatives , you’ll drive operational process improvements and store workload simplifications, identifying untapped improvement opportunities within the stores through a combination of tactics. The Manager will partner significantly with the Field organization – through train-the-trainer programs, SOP revision, and working with Analysts to develop reporting and analysis for Field leadership. They will also be the owner and subject matter expert of the labor standards database.
The successful candidate will have 5-8 years of experience in projects related to process design, work measurement/time studies, productivity improvement, cost reduction, and project implementation. Experience in a warehousing or stores environment required; off-price retail experience is preferred. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related analytical discipline preferred; Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt desired.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and 3rd party consulting resources to brainstorm improvement ideas and develop sharp hypotheses. Improvement ideas could come from projects initiated by store operations partners or from competitive insights

  • Identify improvements to store operations through work measurement (Maynard standards), process reengineering, work station and material handling redesign

  • Collect in-store observations, understand current operations and collaborate with subject matter experts from corporate and in the Field to identify opportunities

  • Manage development and maintenance of accurate and effective engineered standards through detailed review of time and frequency studies. Manage development and maintenance of best practices for all job functions

  • Leverage process time standards to estimate productivity opportunity of ideas that emerge during process improvement ideation

  • Perform due diligence ensuring accuracy of cost/ROI/timing assumptions

  • Support capital projects when required, with work sampling and cost/benefit analyses

  • Develop business cases and outline linkage to financial performance for specific initiatives

  • Generate stakeholder interest to pursue ideas; secure approvals prior to implementation stage.

  • Support business objectives and expense and throughput improvement initiatives through needs assessment, work methods flow analysis, recommendations and project implementation

  • Use appropriate project management tools to plan, develop, and coordinate the completion of assigned tasks and deliver quantifiable results

  • Test new concepts to improve the processes in the stores.

  • Support the design and installation of material handling equipment incorporated into existing, new and smaller footprint stores

  • Build strong relationships with Field partners to coach and train in the proper definition, communication, and implementation of best practices
