Our Store Operations Expense Analyst are primarily responsible for leveraging existing and creating updated key metric data to support improved sales and store expense performance. Some of the other key responsibilities are identifying process improvements, analysis of data and providing recommendations for specific actions.
Support annual expense planning for all stores and corporate accounts
Conduct analytics by store and by major GL (spend category) to build annual non-payroll budgets and to refine based on trends and opportunities
Support Profit Improvement Contribution (PIC) process through idea generation and data gathering to support existing projects
Expense Management – Non Payroll
Identify and execute additional enhancements to analytics, ordering process and opportunities for better allocation of expense dollars
Produce monthly supply budgets by store and by major spend category.
Communicate with partners (supply vendor and Procurement team) to ensure stores have the right level of supplies on-hand
Partner with Field, Stores, and Internal Audit partners to ensure Sarbanes-Oxley compliance
Partner with Procurement team to ensure appropriate new store order quantities
Identify industry trends and statutory ordinances which impact future expense
Develop methodology and protocol to manage travel expense by addressing outliers and partnering with Concur/credit card team to analyze and react to results
Partner with Finance to research and resolve all general ledger/reporting issues related to non-payroll expense and make recommendations for ongoing corrective action
Expense Management – Payroll
Produce robust, easy to understand payroll reporting to help stores and Field manage budgeted staffing to drive sales.
Provide payroll estimates to Finance partners in preparation for Real Estate committee meetings
Develop and communicate Pre-opening and Grand Opening payroll budgets and staffing plans
Strategic and ad-hoc analyses
Conduct ad-hoc analyses to support executive request. Past examples include
Analysis of sales trends and recommendations for store specific adjustments during quarterly Sales Plan revisions
ROI Analyses on investments/special projects involving payroll support
Regional market analyses, support of other key initiatives (e.g., big stores, weekend business focus, etc.)
Identify efficiencies through simplification of reporting, automation of data pulls or elimination of legacy reports no longer useful
Collaborate consistently with other key partners (e.g., larger Operations team, Finance team, Procurement, HR team, etc.)
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree and ideally experience in retail with a focus on strong analytics/problem-solving experience . Candidates must have strong communication and relationship building skills (both written and verbal), strong, practical knowledge of Business Intelligence reporting, MS Office, Excel, Power Point and the ability to utilize other internal tracking mechanisms.
