As a Vice President of Store Innovation, you be a strategic team lead for Burlington’s store innovation program. You’ll be tasked with developing new store formats, improving existing prototypes, the planning and implementation of updates to existing stores and the overall reinvention of store environments, fixtures, décor, graphics and architectural exteriors. You’ll work closely with partners in our Design, Architecture, Real Estate and Store Operations teams, among others, to build a collaborative vision and bring the Store Innovation strategy to life. You’ll stay ahead of emerging trends and ensure Burlington is a leader in retail innovation, in order to support our mission to deliver a world-class shopping experience to our customers. Your efforts will impact hundreds of stores each year as Burlington continues to grow and evolve. Your abilities to communicate, collaborate, innovate and lead, while remaining task- and results-oriented will be critical in the successful development and implementation of a cutting-edge store innovation strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the extensive daily operations of store innovation program and establish required standards for designs, plans, and specifications to ensure consistent execution of projects.

  • Develop a vision and long-range implementation plan in conjunction with SVP.

  • Develop a strategic approach to development and implementation of innovative processes to improve consistency, effectiveness & efficiencies.

  • Establish and manage KPIs to drive business success and achieve long-range plan

  • Direct internal Store Designers, Fixture Designers, Graphics Designers, Store Planners, and Architects to achieve department goals.

  • Drive top line sales, leverage capital & expense, deliver a “differentiated” store environment, deliver best in class “speed to market”, develop best in class Store Development Team

  • Direct external Design Consultants, Architectural & Engineering Consultants, and Global Vendor Partners to achieve department goals and the successful completion of retail and non-retail programs.

  • Lead development of high-quality and cost-effective design solutions with direct ownership of Design phase followed by providing guidance during Planning and Construction phases.

  • Serve as functional expert for initiatives to drive sales growth through brand-right and cost-effective store environment solutions.

  • Develop strong collaborative relationships with Real Estate, Legal, Facilities, Property Administration, Merchants, Planning & Allocation, Merchandise Presentation, Marketing, Store Operations, IT, LP, Finance, Construction, Store Planning, Architects, Design Consultants, Landlords, General Contractors, and other key partners.

Candidates must have at minimum a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, with an advanced degree preferred (or equivalent experience). Qualified candidates will have 5+ years of experience in a senior leadership role in the retail industry and 10+ years of experience in a Store Design role with a major retailer or design firm. Significant travel required throughout the US and Puerto Rico with potential for international travel from time to time.
