Overview
Position Summary:
The Vice President, Supply Chain Strategy is responsible for the development, management, and implementation of the organization’s Supply Chain growth roadmap to support new store and comp sales growth. This includes, but is not limited to, justification, design, and implementation of new distribution centers, retrofit/expansion of existing centers, and all additional modifications as necessary. As part of this process, this individual will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and adhering to the capital expense budget for distribution. This role is a critical component to the growth of Burlington Stores and will be a highly visible position with a direct impact throughout Supply Chain and the entire organization.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide strong leadership to the Supply Chain Strategy and Projects teams, with a strong focus on increasing distribution capacities while reducing costs and improving service
Partner with the organization and internal team to perform analysis to determine need, and provide a 5-year capital/project plan
Lead the team responsible for, and provide input and guidance on, design and selection of product storage and material handling equipment to be incorporated into existing, new, and expanded distribution centers. This includes the justification and selection of specific components and technologies used within the material handling system (unit sortation, etc.)
Implement product storage and material handling equipment projects to be incorporated into existing, new, and expanded distribution centers, ensuring they are completed on schedule and on budget
Work on one-off special projects as designated by management
Education and Qualifications:
BS Industrial Engineering/similar, or equivalent work experience.
Experience:
Minimum 10 years progressive experience in engineering, consulting, or distribution operations
Proven experience in maintaining and updating a complex nationwide distribution network
Experience running large scale material handling capital projects for a nationwide distribution network
Skills and Abilities:
Excellent time management, planning, organization, and problem-solving skills
Excellent PC skills – Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint
Demonstrated ability to interact across a broad range of organizational levels and functions
Excellent interpersonal skills
Training and experience with various areas of financial reporting and controls. Experience in data mining
Up to 30% Travel on an annual basis
