Burlington Data Governance Specialist II in Edgewater Park, New Jersey

Come join our growing team here at Burlington Stores as a Data Governance Specialist II! The Data Governance Specialist II will support business areas including Merchandising, Allocations, Marketing, IT and Supply Chain Analytics teams with insights gained from analyzing Burlington and external data by establishing data governance policies, processes, and standards that are in-line with organizational priorities, and working with Data Stewards in the business to enforce them. Must have strong interpersonal and relationship building skills & strong written and verbal communication skills.

This role will establish data governance policies, processes, and standards that are in-line with organizational priorities, and work with Data Stewards in the business to enforce them

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with business and data & analytics teams to uncover ongoing data opportunities

  • Design data governance framework and processes to make it easy to find, access and understand data and solve for data quality issues

  • Setup and lead data governance council to provide oversight and guidance on the ongoing data governance opportunities

  • Partner with business and IT leaders to define and identify data owners and data stewards for key data sources

  • Develop data dashboards to monitor data quality, data lineage and performance, and identify/resolve issues

  • Identify and setup data catalog and data dictionary tools and evolve the capability over time

  • Work with vendors to identify and test data governance tools to automate data governance with time

  • Mentor and upskill data and analytics teams on data governance

Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Engineering / Science, Physics, or Statistics

  • 5+ years of experience working with data

  • 2+ years of experience with leading data governance efforts

Skills and Abilities:

  • Deep understanding of data governance best practices, tools, processes and roles

  • Ability to partner with IT and business to drive data governance across the organization

  • Passion for data and how make it easy to find, understand and use it

  • Attention to details and ability to find data quality issues

  • Ability to influence others to align on data quality resolution solutions

  • Self-starter with entrepreneurial mindset

  • Experience with Collibra is a nice to have

  • Retail domain experience preferred

Physical Requirements:

The position requires the individual to be able to sit 8 hours a day/40 hours a week.
