The International Transportation Coordinator role is directly involved in handling the day-to-day operations for both Burlington’s import and export freight. As a subject matter expert for all international transportation, this role will work closely with various internal departments as well as Burlington’s nominated service providers in a continuous effort to deliver a very cost-effective, service-centric, and high-performing global supply chain network.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate all international transportation activity from booking at origin through delivery to final destination. Execute all daily operational processes as assigned in a timely and precise manner on a continual basis, making every effort to keep goods moving without delay. Develop & maintain volume forecasts, store delivery projections and perform cost estimates as needed.

  • Collect and prepare daily transportation reports to share with necessary internal and external stakeholders in a timely manner. Review reports for accuracy and use data to interpret any operational impacts. Perform root cause analysis and work quickly to resolve issues that would result in any delays in delivering the product on time or come at a higher cost to Burlington.

  • Maintain regular communication with Burlington’s nominated Carriers, Freight Forwarders, Consolidators and Puerto Rico Pool Point operators. Ensure all partners are fully compliant with following Burlington’s SOP’s and adhering to our SLA’s where applicable. Solicit corrective action plans from partners that are failing to achieve service levels and escalate any prevalent concerns to management.

  • Review all freight invoices, validating for accuracy and completeness. Resolve any billing errors or inconsistencies directly with service providers and submit validated invoice to Burlington’s Treasury management team for payment and/or submit directly into freight forms payment portal as needed. Monitor Puerto Rico Department of Treasury’s SURI portal to properly identify, classify and clear product arriving into Puerto Rico. Maintain record of all shipments inbound to Puerto Rico and perform monthly tax report for Burlington tax department.

  • Review and approval all International Transportation data elements within the International PO Creation and Change process. Manage data entry within International PO system and engage in the discussion of planning PO shipment details with vendors/buyers/MIO as needed. Complete special projects, professional training, other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Manager.

Candidates must have at minimum a Bachelor’s degree in International Transportation or 3 years of experience in imports & exports. Strong verbal and communication skills and a high attention to detail are required for this role. Ability to work in a team and in a changing work environment. Intermediate experience in Excel (pivot tables, formula creation, v-look ups).
