Burlington IT Support Specialist I in Edgewater Park, New Jersey

Overview

Come join our growing team at Burlington as an IT Support Specialist I! The IT Support team member will have hands-on oversight of the operations for production system environments and applications by identifying, resolving or escalating system issues. This person will provide application/technical system support by performing tier II troubleshooting and documenting technical solutions for customer problems related to software and set up errors. Our ideal candidate will manage INCs queue while identifying trends and problems the impact business.

Holiday, weekends, and on-call coverage is required. Due to the nature of the retail environment, occasionally project work must occur in the overnight hours (1 AM-7 AM).

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Triaging, troubleshooting and resolving software issues at the application and database level

  • Manage a queue of incoming service requests and incidents

  • Identifying and escalating potential production issues to the appropriate level

  • Acting as a liaison between engineering and the customer to provide technical information and updates, advise customers on basic configuration and functionality questions

  • Maintain, review, and approve knowledge base documentation

  • Answer questions and mentor customer support analyst

Education and Qualifications:

  • Equivalent vocational competence development in the IS sector

  • At least 3 years IS/application support required

Skills and Abilities:

  • Good Communicator

  • Team Player

  • Problem Solver

  • Basic knowledge of Unix, Linux

  • Microsoft office 2003, 2007

  • Solid understanding of basic networking protocols and related troubleshooting utilities

  • Knowledge of retail IT hardware

  • Knowledge in SQL scripting

  • Java scripting (a plus)

  • Oracle Applications support (a plus)

  • A+ certifications and Microsoft certifications (MCP, MCDST, etc) are a plus

  • Knowledge of ITIL best practices (a plus)

Physical Requirements:

  • Required to sit 90% of work day

  • Local travel between corporate locations

  • Required to be on-call
