Position Summary:

The Center of Excellence (CoE) and Strategic Initiatives team is responsible for collaboratively developing, deploying, and ingraining strategy, innovation, and best practices throughout the organization as it relates to sourcing and procurement evaluations, key corporate projects, category management, and vendor management, including demand or process re-engineering to optimize return-on-investment of Burlington’s indirect spend.

Reporting to the Director of CoE and Strategic Initiatives, the Manager of Processes and Training will define standard procedures to drive best-in-class category management within Procurement and cross-functionally across the organization. This includes developing and implementing training programs in order to drive policy compliance, user adoption, credibility with cross-functional stakeholders, and continuous process improvement.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions

  • Work closely with cross-functional partners (e.g., Finance, Legal, IT) to enhance procurement operations and efficiencies across the core functions of sourcing, contract management, spend analytics, and business engagement

  • Lead the development of standard sourcing, category management, and operational processes and strategies by incorporating data, analytics, process design, category research and benchmarking, and other tools as necessary

  • Build ongoing training programs and process guardrails in order to drive best practices and compliance

Process Design

  • Define, own, and update key cross-functional sourcing processes (e.g., defining requirements, RFP execution, negotiations, etc.), incorporating best practices across Burlington

  • Establish standards and policies by soliciting and gaining consensus on business requirements across procurement and all other business units

  • Ensure appropriate sourcing strategies and negotiation processes are in place for effective and timely execution of sourcing initiatives

  • Continually research and analyze process trends to identify potential opportunities/enhancements

  • Cultivate innovation by ensuring a high level of personal and team education on department strategies being executed in the marketplace and by key competitors

  • Capture and share best practices across the sourcing managers, ensuring consistent deployment of best practices

  • Lead a Continuous Improvement (CI) Program, archiving and acting on knowledge from sourcing events (e.g., RFx, eAuction etc.)

  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure source-to-contract and procure-to-pay functionalities are embedded into all digital tools/processes (e.g., Ariba)

  • Support development of common processes and templates (e.g., RFx and contract best practices)

Training and Development

  • Develop strategic sourcing negotiation and process excellence curriculum and training programs to coach best-in-class skillsets to procurement and functional leads

  • Lead professional and training development for procurement staff, as well as cross-functional training initiatives for business counterparts

  • Analyze and provide KPI reporting for leadership updates (e.g., process effectiveness and compliance)

Education:

  • Four (4) year degree or five plus (5) years of experience in a similar role required; degree with an emphasis in Mathematics, Finance, Supply Chain, or MIS preferred;

Experience:

  • 3-5 years related experience

  • Working knowledge of Category Management functions and principles, including deep knowledge of process design, training, and development

Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated success in collaborating with and supporting Procurement cross-functionally

  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal

  • Able to analyze complex data

  • Able to manage multiple complex priorities

  • Project and communication management skills

  • Ability to problem solve and work within a team and independently in a fast-paced environment
