Overview

As Director of Construction based in the Los Angeles market , you’ll lead a team of Construction Project Managers in all construction functions related to New Stores, Remodels, CAPEX Projects, and other construction projects as assigned.
This role requires 8+ years of construction management experience, including 5+ years in retail store construction/project management. At least three years in a senior leadership role with a fast-paced and growing retailer is required, and experience managing remote teams is strongly preferred. This position requires significant travel on a weekly basis.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage, support, and develop a remote team of Construction Project Managers, while managing select projects directly as needed

  • Provide construction budgeting to Real Estate team for potential new store deals.

  • Negotiate VE with landlord’s construction & real estate rep and develop optimum execution plan based on quickest time to market

  • Work closely with both the Landlord’s team/consultants and Burlington’s team/consultants to coordinate a cohesive set of SOW and construction docs

  • Work directly with Real Estate & Legal teams to review and red-line proposed work exhibits & legal docs.

  • Develop a complete CPM project timeline from lease execution through Turnover and GO. Provide ongoing risk assessment and proposed solutions.

  • Develop remodel phasing plans and conduct meetings with Field Ops, Merchandise Planning Managers, and Store Planning.

  • Conduct field survey with Architect to develop a complete scope of work and budget.

  • Conduct pre bid meeting with GCs, Architect, and PM to establish bid timing, scope of work, VE options, and alternate pricing.

  • Manage master CPM construction timeline displaying the complete Project Life Cycle to aid all business partners in overall planning.
